Exercise Prescription

The cornerstone to any effective treatment program, exercises should be prescribed as part of management plan. If exercises are prescribed without first restoring joint mobility, the pain and dysfunction often get worse. Patient then assume that certain exercises are bad or unsuccessful for treating the pain, when it may be merely a problem of:

  • Inappropriately introducing the exercise at the wrong stage of healing process
  • How it is performed and appropriate goal of the exercise
  • Progressing too quickly or not appropriate for the client skill level

Therefore patients who go through a routine of exercises without awareness often have limited success in their rehabilitation and may even get worse and ultimately results in further aggravating the injury of exacerbating their symptoms.
